We hear about mahadashas all the time. What is their significance? A mahadasha or great period is a period of time where one of the planets has a special influence on the native. The placement of that planet , the house the sign etc all play a role in how a particular Mahadasha will play out in life.
The Mahadashas in their order. Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury. Depending on where you are born in this sequence your first mahadasha will start the sequence from that planet.
